B4 Brands and Cornell College Sponsor a Leadership Camp for Community Youth

Mount Vernon, Iowa – B4 Brands and Cornell College announced today that they sponsored the Mustang Leadership Camp on the campus of Cornell College from July 25th to July 27th.

The Mustang Leadership Camp was a free event offered to third through eighth grade students in the Mount Vernon and Lisbon area. Brent Brase, the Cornell women’s basketball head coach, and John Rhomberg, the President of B4 Brands, organized and facilitated the event with the help of over thirty adult volunteers from the community. The City of Mount Vernon’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Community Resiliency Project were also valuable contributors to the camp.

The purpose of the camp was to introduce important leadership skills, such as building relationships, communication, and resolving conflicts within a fun and active environment. Camp activities included challenging games, fast-paced group projects, group discussions and speakers. Over 120 students participated in the three-night event which culminated in an interactive parent program.

“We live and work in an amazing community with great parents, students and institutions such as Cornell College. It was an honor to be involved and to help introduce these important concepts to the children of the area,” said John Rhomberg. “It was a very inspiring experience for me as the volunteers, parents and students all shared thoughts, experiences and ideas while working together to achieve a common goal – to improve our leadership skills. I’m excited to continue building on the foundation we’ve established,” added Brent Brase.

Due to the level of participation and positive feedback, plans are being developed to make the Mustang Leadership an annual event.
